Experience making traditional Japanese sweets at “Okashi-tsukasa Hogetsudo,” a long-established confectionery shop that has been loved for over 100 years and rooted in Marugame Castle Town. You can receive direct instruction on making ‘jo-namagashi’ (a type of traditional Japanese sweet) and ‘wasanbon’ (a type of fine-grained Japanese sugar) from the fifth generation in a shop built in 1898 (Meiji 31). Also, you can enjoy the ‘jo-namagashi’ you made in the tea room in the separate building of Hogetsudo, a registered tangible cultural property built in 1918 (Taisho 7).
