Sanuki Norizome dyeing experience

Sanuki Norizome, a traditional craft of Kagawa Prefecture, is a unique dyeing technique that uses glutinous rice paste as a starch. During the Edo period, there were many dyeing shops in the Konyamachi district of Takamatsu Castle.
In Kotohira, inheriting the traditional techniques through generations, the dyer Yoshinoya handles the dyeing of flags for the “Shikoku Konpira Kabuki Oshibai” performed at the oldest theater in Japan, the “Former Konpira Oshibai.” Experience the art of Norizome dyeing directly instructed by the fourth generation at Yoshinoya, where you can dye a tote bag. In addition to the experience, you can also learn about the history of Norizome and visit the workshop. You can take home the dyed bag from the experience as your own tote bag.
