The lacquer art of Kagawa developed as a traditional craft under the protection and encouragement of the lords of the Takamatsu domain during the Edo period. Experience making a pendant crafted from a ‘tsuishitsu’ (a type of lacquerware) board.

※This experience uses real lacquer, so those with sensitivities to dried lacquer products should refrain from this activity. However, the lacquer has already been applied, processed, and fully dried, so there is no danger of allergic outbreaks to wet lacquer.
※A chiseling knife will be used for this experience.
※This activity is intended for those ages 13 and up. Individuals under 13 may participate under the supervision of a parent or guardian.
※A coaster making experience is also available upon consultation.
